Whenever I talk to people about what they want to do with their house, they usually say that they want to do something different, spa-like, bistro-like, old world-like, etc. They want to make their house feel more than just your stock mock...I mean, let's face it, most of us aren't privileged enough to live here.

or here...

or here.

But sometimes with not too much effort you can make a room feel so much richer, cozier, unique than what it was.
For example, changing your curtains. You can get full, long ones, or raise your rod a few inches, maybe lengthen your rod to make your windows seem wider.

Do some built-ins...it can make a standard room feel like a different room...plus practical for storage.

Think out of the box when painting.

Open up a room. I imagine there was a wall and overhead cupboards dividing this room before...which would have made it feel so different.

Get creative with your cupboards...open them up, use baskets, shelving instead of cupboards.

Paint your front door. Imagine if this front door were black...no one would have taken a picture of the front of the house.

Don't think of paint as the only option for changing your walls.

Wallpaper, lighting, mirrors.

Do something different to your ceiling.

Lighting.

Paint your inside doors, or change them to a different door all together. French, drapes, no door, etc.

Make your headboard. You can get very creative with headboard ideas...a lot of times cheaper than buying a new headboard.

Enjoy your weekend.
