This last year has been a gray year...meaning the color. I love grey right now. Probably because, like brown a couple of years ago, it is done so well in so many ways. I love it in clothes, on houses, on furniture. Well, when I was pregnant, I went through a phase of nesting and painted quite a few rooms in my house. And a couple ended up being gray. I even wanted to name Oliver Grayson and call him Gray, but Jarod wasn't into that name as much.
So, here are a few shades of gray...

This is a blue-gray, and I love the mixture of it with the floor and the yellow shade. Plus the Christmas Card tree is too cute.

Such a great bathroom. The floor to ceiling mirror is so fun, but would hate cleaning it all the time!

Love all of this.

Mmmm...so pretty.

White and gray...always love it.

Can't decide if it's brown or gray, but such a warm color. An amazing door!

Love the gray floors.

Gray on the outside...so sharp.

Here is my own gray creations...our bathroom.

I painted our room. I painted this room while pregnant, then I made the bolster pillow, so that it wouldn't look too drab. I hated my headboard before I painted the room, but it warms up the room so much now.
My kitchen...now I just have to figure out something different for the big wall with the shelves on it.

The other part of the kitchen. I didn't like the hood gray, so I painted it a black/brown that I have learned to like.
Enjoy a fabulous gray day.

I am also in love with the color grey. It is even more fabulous that it can correctly be spelled two ways- and !
A couple months ago, I painted our bedroom gray and I still don't like it. It took on a purple-ish/blue-ish tint.
Any advise on getting the perfect gray with having the above problem or it looking like a drab office?
I can hardly see a difference between the pictures of your house and the ones from designer sites! :) Great job Heidi-ho! You've got such a good eye.
I love your style!! Want to help me when I move back?!
I agree with Tami!
Love it! We painted our Broadripple home two shades of grey on the inside.. driftwood and morel.. both were by Martha Stewart. I also have begun the habit of darkening my colors 20% for more depth and a closer shade on the walls to the sample. Keep styling :)! Love, Jenny
Thanks Ladies! Sarah, I try and pick grays that have a little brown undertones...like a tan/gray, so they don't look too cold. My woodwork is white, so grays work well, but if you don't, make sure you bring the paint sample home and stick it by your wood for a week or so. That way, if you are tired of it in a week, you will probably hate it in a month. :) Jen's advice was good advice too. You can always tell your paint mixer - person to darken or lighten a paint color by percents.
Holli, it would be so fun to help you decorate. I always say, if I went back to school, that's what I would do.
great ideas! Thanks so much!!
ahh i love gray sooo soso much. I already have a bunch of gray things stored away for my future house...and as i write this i'm wearing a gray sweater, tank top and boots. And i thought the same thing as Tami; The pictures of your house look like the professional ones!
So fun! Heidi you are so very talented!
