Friday Inspiration

Those of you who have known me a long time, know that I worked at Talbots for a few years. They have recently revamped their style and I am loving some of their new pieces...like this adorable top. So girly.
Such a cute skirt.
Love this trench.
This sweater is so springy...makes me happy.
Loving the vest worn two ways...especially with the skirt.

I am loving this sweet skirt.

Just Saying...

So a friend told me I should do a post on mantle decor. I told her I actually had a file of mantles that I love...including fireplaces...if any of you know Jarod, he loves fires and fireplaces. So I've been collecting pictures for a while now.

I think the most common mistake (which I have been guilty of) when decorating a mantle, is trying to fit every accessory you like in one spot. My personal taste in this case, is 'less is more'.

Here is a picture I love. One mirror...that's all. Love it. This fireplace is also very simple, unlike some of the pictures to follow...but it still works.
Here again, very simple. I think most people think a mantle must be the focal point of a room, but it doesn't have to be. It can be a couch, a coffee table, an amazing rug, fabulous curtains and windows, a piece of art...I don't know...I am just giving my opinion. This is why I am blogging about it, and not writing a book. Because I really don't know what I am talking about, I just like to talk about it.
here is a mantle from Pottery Barn. They have professional decorators who come in and decorate to help sell their stuff. I love Pottery Barn, but if it were me, I would let the stone around the fireplace be the focal point, and pare down the decor on top...and get rid of the candle on the right of the hearth...but that's me just saying...as Brandon, (my Bro-in-law), used to say, 'you can't blame a guy (or girl) for just saying'.
Again, love the fireplace, but would have gotten rid of all the decor on top of the mantle, kept the mirror, and taken those black candles and stuck them up on top over to one side.
This is such a busy fire place, there isn't much need for decor and I love the result.
Again, one mirror...love it.
This room is so splendid...it just makes me happy I'm a girl. Though, I would have kept the books inside the fireplace...and done something a little more simple on top...just saying.
I found this mantle, and I love the symmetry and the simplicity.
Once again, one big mirror and two little bean bags...ha...not sure what they are...but the chandelier with black candlesticks reflecting is brilliant...not to be too corny.
Ahhh...simplicity.
THIS from West Elm is one of my favorites. I love antiqued mirrors, and big ones too! Plus the reflection of the chandelier and simple decor...plus the small pile of books inside the fireplace softens the almost harsh look of the black marble.
Another from West Elm. Now this one has more to it, but what I like is that it looks more like they decorated with things that have meaning...like a print picked up at a flea market in Europe while on vacation, or a painting handed down from a great aunt...I don't know...just seems more meaningful and not so much like you just stuck a bunch of stuff together that means nothing to you.
This too seems like a mantle that could have things that were picked up on vacation, and not at your local Pier 1...which don't get me wrong...I love Pier 1.
Lastly...one painting...so simple, yet, so elegant.

Baby Boy Coming Home Outfit

Shar, this is for you. You asked if I have any suggestions for a cute 'Coming Home' outfit.

I was very boring with both my boys and put them in this GAP onesie. However, it is one of my favorites.

If I had it to do over again, I found a few things I would have gotten for that fun, special day.

This is from one of my favorite kids' stores. Janie and Jack
Or one of these numbers from Tea.
But my absolute FAVORITE kids' website is Jacadi. I LOVE all of their stuff and would dress my boys in it if I spent more on their clothes.
love this!
This is velvet, except for around the collar, and they have it in grey too, with a white collar...so sweet.
This is my favorite! Love it!
So, there you go, if I was bringing home a baby boy, I would do one of these. I know you didn't ask for a blog post, but thought I might as well.

A Little Joy

For those of you who have girls...this morning I became envious.

I found this website that sells the most adorable girls things!

Since I have boys, I decided to share this with all of you who have girls.

It's called Joy Folie.
Are these boots not the most adorable things you have ever seen? I have to say, they are right up there with puppies for me.
There are no words...
I don't know which is cuter, the boots, or the little girl in them.
Ok, so I'm being a little dramatic, but just look at them...sooo cute.
love 'em!
These little slipper shoes she makes are so cute too.

I fell in love with these.
Even booties.

I think these are about my favorite!

She makes accessories and some clothing for adults too.
I can picture my nieces in this little number.

Love this jacket for women.
Suffice to say, if I have a girl in the near future, that little girl will need beautiful boots to keep those piggies warm.

Another Photographer in the Family

Ever since I was little, I remember my dad loving photography and photography equipment. Well, he passed down the love to me and my sisters.

The other day, I found my old point and shoot camera that I haven't used in a while. Will was interested in it, so I told him he could take pictures with it for a little while. Most of them came back of his feet and a couple of Thomas, but I was surprised when I found a couple cute ones of Oliver, and he even took one of me...well, my backside, but I put them in my computer photo albums.

Here is a sneak peak...haha...like a true photo blog.

I love this one of Oliver...so sweet.

My backside.
